Job summary

HKEX is seeking an experienced Network Architect/Engineer to lead large‑scale data center networking for trading and market data distribution. You will design and validate architectures, oversee redundancy and capacity planning, and collaborate with vendors, security, and trading teams to ensure production readiness.

The role requires 7+ years in financial services or exchange environments and credentials like CCNP/CCIE. Based in Hong Kong, the position is permanent with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience in large‑scale data center networking design and operations.
• Knowledge of EVPN/VXLAN, Layer 2/3 segregation, and data center interconnects.
• Proven ability to review capacity and resilience for mission‑critical systems.
• Familiarity with cross‑connects, colocation, and lender/vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Act as network subject‑matter expert (SME) for trading and Corporation network projects from design to production
• Provide architectural guidance on trading networks, market data distribution, and exchange connectivity
• Review and validate network designs, implementation plans, and change proposals
• Advise on colocation, cross‑connect, redundancy, and capacity planning initiatives
• Work closely with Project manager, Network Operations, Trading application, Security, and external vendors
• Support risk assessments, technical governance, and production readiness reviews
• Ensure network solutions align with regulatory, audit, and operational standards

Requirements

• Strong expertise in large‑grade data center network architecture, including spine‑leaf design, high availability, and non‑blocking fabrics
• Experience in data center interconnect (DCI), redundancy models, and active‑active / disaster recovery architectures
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 / Layer 3 data center networking, including EVPN/VXLAN and traffic segmentation
• Knowledge of cross‑connects, carrier diversity, and colocation environments, preferably within exchange or financial data centers
• Ability to review and validate capacity planning and resilience design for mission‑critical systems
• Familiarity with network security design, including secure zoning, firewall integration, and east‑west traffic control within data centers
• Experience supporting data center migration, refresh programs, and technology upgrades with minimal service impact
• Understanding of operational readiness, monitoring, and handover requirements in 24x7 mission‑critical environments
• Ability to lead vendor and solution design discussions, including reviewing architectures, BOMs, and supporting cost justification (CAPEX / OPEX)
• Ability to prepare high‑level solution options, including design trade‑offs, risks, and architectural considerations
• Strong ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with internal users, stakeholders, and external partners/vendors to ensure successful project delivery and operational alignment
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in network architecture, engineering, or consulting roles within Financial Services Industry (FSI) or exchange environments
• Proven experience supporting mission‑critical and regulated systems
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
• Professional certification such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent is preferred
