Job summary

UBS Hong Kong is seeking an experienced technical lead to join the Front Office Algorithmic Trading Development team. You will drive design and delivery of software for Agency Trading and Electronic Trading, with APAC focus, delivering robust, latency-sensitive solutions.

You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, collaborate with Quants, Traders and Product teams, and ensure cybersecurity, monitoring and testing across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software development in real-time, distributed environments.
• Hands-on experience in Algorithmic Trading and Smart Order Routing.
• Strong knowledge of electronic-trading systems and latency-sensitive platforms.
• Proven track record delivering high-performance, scalable solutions meeting latency and throughput goals.
• Experience influencing architecture and engineering decisions across complex distributed systems.
• Hands-on with agile development, automated testing, CI/CD, and automated build/deploy.
• Experience supporting production trading systems and resolving complex issues.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
• Strong written and verbal English with global collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex algorithmic execution requirements and deliver effective solutions through an agile, iterative approach.
• Help implement the target-state architecture for our global Algorithmic Trading platform, adapting it to APAC market structures and regional requirements.
• Evolve our distributed architecture to meet next-generation requirements for capacity, scalability, resilience, latency, and throughput.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, promote engineering best practices, and guide key design and architecture decisions.
• Ensure that enterprise requirements for cybersecurity, platform hosting, monitoring, observability, and logging are met.
• Expand automated testing across distributed algo-engine components and enhance our simulation test harness to support algorithm, model, regression, and market scenario testing.
• Collaborate with technology teams, Quants, Traders, and Product partners across regions and asset classes.
• Provide Level 3 production support and assist Operations teams with releases, platform rollouts, incident investigation, and support-related matters.
• Mentor team members and help strengthen engineering capability and ownership across the team.

Your team

You will join the Algorithmic Trading Development team within the Execution Services product area. The team delivers Execution Algorithms, Smart Order Routing, Internalization, and Direct Market Access capabilities for an internal and external client base across Equities, Exchange-Traded Derivatives, and Foreign Exchange.

You will work in a globally distributed environment, partnering closely with engineering, quantitative, trading, product, and production-support teams. The APAC team addresses regional market requirements while contributing to the evolution and adoption of our global Algorithmic Trading platform.

• Extensive hands-on experience in Algorithmic Trading and Smart Order Routing development.

• A strong track record of delivering stable, resilient, high-performance solutions that meet capacity, latency, throughput and observability requirements
• Experience influencing architecture and engineering decisions across complex distributed systems.

• Experience supporting production trading systems and resolving complex technical and operational issues.
• A strong software engineering background with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline.
