Job summary

The Hospital Authority Island Cluster is recruiting an Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist (HKCH2608009). You will provide occupational therapy services, including assessment, planning, and documentation, while supervising OT IIs, assistants, and students to maintain high clinical standards.

Entry requires a degree in Occupational Therapy, full or limited registration with a Practising Certificate, and at least 3 years of post-graduate experience; fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registered Part I (full registration) or Part IV (limited registration) with Practising Certificate.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field; post-graduate specialization as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide OT services including assessment, planning and documentation.
  • Supervise OT IIs, OT Assistants, staff, students and volunteers.
  • Coordinate staff development and in-service education.
  • Implement departmental policies and contribute to department goals.

HK$61,618 to HK$89,978 (HGPS Point 25 to 33A) per month including Monthly Allowance

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities

I. Primary Function

To provide occupational therapy services to p atients/clients, includ i ng assessment, treatment program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication. To supervise Occupational Therapist IIs, Oc c upational Therapy Assistants, support staff, students and volunteers. Supervision includes or ientation , developmen t and evaluation of personnel and monitoring of quality provision of services. Patient/client care responsibilities will vary depending on the volume of patients and personnel in the special areas to be supervised.

II. Key Result Areas / Job Description

  • a) Assist in the selection and orientation of staff, students and volunteers.
  • c) Coordinate and facilitate in-service education and professional development of assigned staff.
  • e) Implement departmental policies and procedures, identify needs for changes, and assist in development and revision.
  • g) Develop and implement strategies to meet department goals and objectives under supervision of Senior Occupational Therapist or Department Manager (Occupational Therapy).
  • h) Coordinate and assist in student fieldwork education and basic grade OT attachment in the special areas.

4. Knowledge and Skills

  • a) Demonstrate and monitor professional and ethical conducts in all job-related activities.
  • b) Communicate, establish rapport, form collaboration and partnership with peers and other disciplines to assure intra-professional and inter-professional teamwork and continuity of patients’/clients’ care.

Participate in or organize training and development programs for OT and non-OT professional staff, assistants, supporting staff, volunteers and occupational therapy students.

Entry Requirements
  1. 1. A degree in Occupational Therapy from a local university or equivalent; and
  2. 2. Be a registered Part I (full registration) or Part IV (limited registration) Occupational Therapist and have a valid Practising Certificate under the Allied Health Professions Ordinance; and
  3. 3. Practise as an Occupational Therapist for at least 3 years (See Remarks 2); and
  4. 4. Have relevant post-graduated experience in the specialized clinical area as required by the post.
  5. 1. Enrolled in a postgraduate professional specialty training (e.g. Master Degree, HA Advanced Specialty Program or equivalent). (See Remarks 2)
  6. 2. Completion of Training & Development Program for Newly Recruit Allied Health Professionals.
  7. 3. Working experience in Child Assessment and Rehabilitation.
  8. 4. Contribution to professional development including research, teaching and training.
  9. 5. Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese.
  10. 2. This is a time limited arrangement which is effective from 1 July 2023 to 30 September 2027.
