Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Up to £75,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Permanent, full-time (flexible working patterns can be discussed)

40 hours over 4-5 days with a 1:4 Saturday rota (8.30am-2pm and 1:15 Sunday (8am-7pm paid extra) no nights, we have a dedicated night team! Bank holidays on a rota (paid extra).

We are seeking a Lead Vet to line manage a wonderful team of 8 vets at our state of the art hospital in Leicester, with the support of a Practice Manager, and Clinical Director. The role will have a clinical focus, with 0.5 days per week admin time.

This role is based entirely at Glenfield Hospital, allowing you to provide excellent continuity of care for your patients.

• You’ll work alongside a highly skilled and supportive team, including certificate holders in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and emergency & critical care. Our dedicated 24-hour nursing and veterinary teams ensure a genuine work-life balance and continuous patient support.
• Our state-of-the-art facilities include: In-house CT scanner, Dental suites equipped with dental X-ray, Video endoscopy, ASIF kit, TPLO/TTA/Tightrope systems, Arthroscopy and advanced ophthalmology equipment

• As a collaborative and knowledge-sharing team, we regularly discuss clinical cases and hold monthly team meetings to support professional development and communication. We actively encourage and support certificate study, and we welcome discussions around any specific clinical interests you wish to pursue.

• RCVS registration and a minimum of 5 years general practice experience.
• Existing line management experience is desirable but not essential, there is development support into leadership for the right person.
• A passion for leading and encouraging team development. GDP advisor or desire to become a GDP Advisor.
• Ability to perform routine neutering (cats and dogs of all sizes) without support - including FLANK cat spays
• Ability to perform abdominal ultrasound, TFAST and AFAST imaging without support
• Ability to perform exploratory laparotomies, splenectomies, GDVs, gastrotomy and enterotomy without support
• Confidence with routine consults in 15 minuets and routine dental cases.
