Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Clevedon. This is a full-time position required to start December 2025

About the Role

As a Full-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. A significant part of your role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEND. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the class teacher to support the delivery of lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Assisting with classroom organisation, preparing resources, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting the teacher with managing classroom behaviour.
  • Providing one-on-one support to individual pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, SLCN, and SEMH needs.
  • Leading or assisting with small group interventions to support pupils' specific learning needs, including literacy and numeracy support.
  • Implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or support plans, adapting strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress against their targets and contributing to review meetings.
  • Supporting pupils' engagement in learning activities, encouraging independence and participation.
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Providing emotional support and promoting positive social interactions among pupils.
  • Working effectively as part of the school team, collaborating with teachers, the SENDCo, and other support staff.
  • Communicating relevant information about pupil progress and well-being to the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Potentially liaising with parents or carers under the direction of the class teacher or SENDCo.
Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant with experience in a primary school setting and a strong understanding of supporting pupils SEND. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, ideally across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Proven experience and understanding of supporting pupils with a range of SEND.
  • A patient, nurturing, and understanding approach to working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents or carers.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Resilience and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time.
Qualifications
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3) or demonstrable equivalent experience is highly desirable.
  • Training or professional development related to supporting pupils with specific SEND is advantageous.
