Please note this is a dual classified position which is also being advertised as a Clinical Nurse Consultant - Clinical Lead (518277d). Only one position will be filled on merit.
The Team:

Join the Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS), a dynamic, community‑based team located in beautiful Launceston, Tasmania. Our multidisciplinary team delivers compassionate, person‑centred mental health care through both in‑community and outreach services. We work closely with individuals, their families, and both formal and informal support networks to help older people live their best lives.

At OPMHS, you'll broaden your professional experience in a supportive environment guided by our CARE values—Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Collaborate with like‑minded professionals who are passionate about improving mental health outcomes for older adults.

Our service is currently undergoing an exciting period of reform. While change can be challenging, it also brings opportunity — a chance to shape the future of mental health care and make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable members of our community. What could be more rewarding than that?

The Role:

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Lead provides high‑level clinical leadership and operational support to ensure the delivery of high‑quality mental health services for older persons. Working closely with the Team Leader, this role focuses on strategic development, resource management, and driving service improvements aligned with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, National Mental Health Standards, and relevant legislation.

  • Leadership & Strategic Direction: Guide the development and management of a comprehensive multidisciplinary community mental health team.
  • Resource & Change Management: Oversee human and physical resources and lead change initiatives to implement models of care and service policies.
  • Clinical Excellence: Ensure optimal clinical processes, improved client outcomes, and promote consumer and carer participation at all levels of service delivery.
You will need:
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a coordination/leadership role within a multidisciplinary community setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, and a capacity to contribute towards the introduction of the model of care within a community setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary community mental health team, with the ability to assist the Team Leader in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources.
