Job summary
A leading engineering firm in Leeds is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the availability and efficiency of site equipment. The role involves planned and reactive maintenance, supporting stock control, and supervising contractors. Candidates should have a City & Guilds Level 3/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering along with strong health and safety awareness and effective communication skills. This role offers a salary of £46,293.00 per annum and various benefits.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Salary: £46,293.00 per annum
Location: Leeds
Extras:
- Overtime available at a premium rate
- On-call allowance - 1 in every 3 weeks - Paid at a premium
- Monday to Friday shift pattern
- Rotating shifts: 6am–2pm, 8am–4pm, 10am–6pm; Start Date: ASAP
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining site equipment through both planned and reactive maintenance. You’ll play a key role in ensuring plant availability, efficiency, and compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance
- Respond to breakdowns promptly and efficiently
- Support spare parts management and stock control
- Monitor plant condition and contribute to hygiene and audit improvements
- Supervise contractors and manage permits to work
- Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives
- City & Guilds Level 3/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Experience with planned maintenance systems
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Logical approach to fault finding
- Effective communication skills
- Must live within 1 hour of the site
- Experience in FMCG or food industry
- Safety qualifications are beneficial
- Additional certifications (IPAF, PASMA, Forklift, BOAS, 18th Edition)
- Welding/fabrication skills
- Conveyors (drag chain, screw, belt & bucket)
- Mixing and weighing equipment
- Boilers and steam plant
- Electrical control panels (inverters, PLCs)
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
