Based in Cardiff, or potentially at one of the firm's other offices in London, Reading, or Southampton, this is a fantastic time to join the team as it grows following significant client wins and an increase in workload.

This firm's Regulatory team is recognized by both Chambers and Legal 500 for its expertise in advising professional regulators. The team acts for a wide range of clients, including health and social care regulators, education bodies, and professional regulators across various sectors. You'll have the chance to work on high-profile regulatory cases, including investigations and hearings before tribunals, regulatory appeals, and applications to the High Court. You may also have the opportunity to develop a practice as a legal advisor to regulatory panels.

The firm is committed to offering flexible and agile working arrangements. Team members currently attend the office 2 days per week, providing you with the flexibility to manage your work around your personal commitments.

Role Overview:

As a lawyer within the Regulatory team, you'll be responsible for leading casework across a broad range of regulatory matters. Your workload will include:

  • Assessing concerns raised in regulatory cases and preparing investigation plans.
  • Advising on the risk of the concerns and determining if an interim order is needed.
  • Overseeing investigations or conducting them yourself, including witness interviews and statement preparation.
  • Preparing reports at the end of investigations, recommending next steps and drafting allegations where appropriate.
  • Preparing cases for hearings and working closely with advocates.
  • Conducting regulatory litigation, including High Court appeals and applications.
  • Providing regulatory advice to shape policy and practice.
  • Keeping clients and those under investigation updated and contributing to management information reporting.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in professional regulatory law, ideally within healthcare fitness to practice matters, though relevant experience from other sectors is also welcomed.
  • Previous case management experience and the ability to handle complex regulatory investigations.
  • Solid technical expertise, analytical skills, and a strong ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • A team-oriented, collegiate approach, with exceptional client care skills.
  • The self-motivation to take responsibility for matters and the drive for continuous professional development.

What's on Offer:

  • Flexible working arrangements, with the option to work from home and attend the office 2 days per week.
  • The opportunity to join one of the largest and most highly respected teams in the country, with full support, training, and development opportunities.
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment where your professional growth is a priority.
  • Competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
