YMCA Brunel Group is seeking part-timeYouth Workers to provide a safe, welcoming environment for young people aged 11-19 across Glastonbury and surrounding locations. The role involves designing and delivering informal learning opportunities and supporting personal development. Roles are part-time, term-time only, with a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or adolescents is essential.
• A background in special education or related fields is highly desirable.
• Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with youth and their families.
• A genuine interest in youth work and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, welcoming environment for young people, young carers, staff, agencies and visitors.
• Deliver an effective service provision to all young people who access the project.
• Promote and develop relationships with agencies, services and other professionals to enhance services for young people.
• Promote the youth club and its activities to other agencies and the public.
• Deliver the youth club during opening times.
• Undertake additional duties commensurate with this post.
• Promote the youth club to young people in the area to encourage participation.
• Support young people’s personal and social development through formal and informal activities.
• Encourage participation in youth club sessions and involvement in development of the club.
• Ensure young people are aware of positive activities and support in the wider community.
• Encourage membership of the Youth Steering Group.
• Assist the Youth Worker in Charge with subs collection and nightly cash reconciliation.

To provide a safe welcoming fun environment for young people aged 11-19 accessing YMCA Youth Clubs, to design, deliver and evaluate a range of informal learning opportunities.

Locations: Glastonbury, Street, Yeovil, Coleford projects
Hours: 3hrs a week (Part-Time, Term Time Only)
Contract: Fixed Term until 31st March 2027
