Job summary

The Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council seeks an Inclusion Co-ordinator for Base71 Youth Zone in Barnsley. You will ensure an inclusive, welcoming environment for young people aged 8–19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) and lead Sunday Inclusion Sessions and the Inclusion Holiday Club.

You will manage the Training Kitchen across the week, support Youth Workers to plan delivery of diverse activities, provide line management, and cover for other Coordinators to maintain safe,

Responsibilities

• Ensure Base71 Youth Zone provides a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for all young people aged 8–19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs or disabilities.
• Lead Sunday Inclusion Sessions and Inclusion Holiday Club to support participation for young people with additional needs or disabilities.
• Coordinate the Training Kitchen provision throughout the week, supporting Youth Workers to plan and deliver a range of engaging activities.
• Provide line management, guidance and support to a team of Youth Workers and develop their skills.
• Lead one Junior session per week and provide operational support and cover for fellow Coordinators across Youth Zone sessions.
• Help shape and strengthen an inclusive offer to ensure every visitor feels a sense of belonging.

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Base71 Youth Zone is dedicated to young people and makes a bold statement about theimportance of giving young people high quality places to go in their leisure time. Open 7 days a week including school holidays, the Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults.

The state of the art £10 million building provides young people with facilities that are second to none delivering over twenty sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities each session. Offering young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers

As the Inclusion Co-ordinator within the Delivery Team, you will play a key role in ensuring that Base71 Youth Zone continues to provide a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for all young people aged 8–19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs or disabilities.

Now 10 months into our Youth Zone journey, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to further develop and enhance our Sunday Inclusion Sessions and Inclusion Holiday Club. You will ensure that young people with additional needs or disabilities feel safe, supported, valued and fully included, with opportunities to participate in a wide range of meaningful and enjoyable activities.

You will also take responsibility for co-ordinating our Training Kitchen provision throughout the week, supporting Youth Workers to plan and deliver a diverse range of engaging, accessible and educational activities that build young people’s confidence, independence and practical life skills.

Alongside these responsibilities, you will provide line management, guidance and support to a team of Youth Workers, helping them to develop their skills and deliver high-quality youth work.

You will also lead one Junior session per week and provide operational support and cover for fellow Co-ordinators across our wider Youth Zone sessions, ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, inclusive and high-quality provision.
