A local council in Morecambe is looking for a Targeted Youth Support Worker to engage with young people aged 11-19. The role involves outreach work, delivering targeted youth programs, and working evenings, including Fridays. Applicants must have a JNC Level 3 qualification for Youth and Community Workers. Targeted Youth Support team part of Lancashire County Council's Children and Family Wellbeing Service are looking to recruit a 4 days, 29.6 hour a week worker as a Youth Support Worker for Lancaster & Morecambe District, who are enthusiastic, organised and passionate about making a difference and changing young people’s lives. The post is to work up to 4 nights per week, one being a Friday evening, delivering youth work in one of our buildings and/or on detached using our mobile youth bus.
Do you want to make a real difference to young peoples lives then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to 'Step into Youth Work'. The Targeted Youth Support team delivers core youth work including Detached/outreach working on the streets with young people, Special Educational Needs & Disability working with young people 11-19 (up to 25 if SEN), safe spaces offering targeted youth places and spaces, and enhanced programmes such as LGBTQ+ groups or specific issue-based groups, including mental health groups.
This is a 29.6 hour a week contract, up to 4 days a week (up to 4 nights). Shift structure includes a Friday evening shift and work may involve building-based or mobile bus-based youth work.
You will have a nationally recognised JNC Level 3 qualification for Youth and Community Workers and evidence of continued professional development. If you do not currently hold a Level 3, the successful candidate may study Level 3 and be considered for a JNC Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Level 3 Youth Work Practice, with course fees paid by the Council.
The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a ‘disclosure’. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab.
