Job summary

East Riding Youth Justice Service is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to provide operational leadership to a multi-agency team, delivering high standards of practice, safeguarding, and service delivery.

You will develop staff, drive improvement, and work with partners to reduce offending and improve life chances for children in the justice system.

Qualifications

• Qualified professional in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or Sociology).
• Substantial experience in youth justice, safeguarding, probation or related field.
• Experience supervising staff and leading teams effectively.
• Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, risk management and safeguarding.
• Commitment to restorative, child-first and trauma-informed approaches.
• Excellent partnership-working and decision-making skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Practice Manager to join the East Riding Youth Justice Service. Following an Outstanding inspection rating in January 2026, our service continues to build on a strong culture of excellence, innovation, and positive outcomes for children, victims, and communities.

As a Practice Manager, you will provide operational leadership and management oversight to a skilled multi-agency team, ensuring high standards of practice, safeguarding, and service delivery. You will support staff development, drive continuous improvement, and work collaboratively with partners to reduce offending and improve the life chances of children involved in the justice system.

We are looking for a confident leader with experience in youth justice, social care, safeguarding, or a related field, who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and skilled individual who has:

• A relevant professional qualification such as Social Work, Psychology, Criminology or Sociology.
• Substantial experience within youth justice, safeguarding, probation or a related field.
• Experience of managing and developing staff through effective supervision and leadership.
• Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, risk management and safeguarding.
