Job summary

Youth Leader – St Luke’s Kentish Town

Start Date: Mid January 2026

Hours: 28.75 hours per week (with and Sunday commitments)

Location: Kentish Town, London

Salary: £28K+ Pro rata (depending on experience)

About St Luke’s

St Luke’s is a growing church planted out of Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB), rooted in worship, community, and deep discipleship. We are passionate about seeing young people encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and find a true sense of belonging in the family of the church. Our youth ministry is currently small but steadily growing, and we are entering an exciting season where strong leadership and vision can help shape future.

About the Youth Ministry

Our youth meet regularly throughout the year across several key rhythms:

  • Sunday Youth: Bible study and discussion during the Sunday service.
  • Horizon: A Friday night drop‑in/social space open to youth and their friends.

Termly

  • Youth Team Gatherings: Worship, prayer, training, and planning with the youth volunteer team.

Half‑Termly

  • Youth Socials: Trips and activities such as crazy golf, cinema outings, climbing, and seasonal events.

Annually

  • Focus
  • Supporting Holiday Club to help children transition into youth ministry.

The young people in our group are curious, thoughtful, and highly relational. They enjoy exploring faith through discussion, story, media, film, and creative reflection. They ask deep theological questions and value leaders who listen, engage, and are genuinely themselves.

The Role

We are seeking a Youth Leader who will take ownership of the youth ministry, nurture faith, build community, and lead the ministry into growth both spiritually and numerically. This is a hands‑on pastoral role with space to plan creatively, invest deeply in relationships, and raise up a team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, grow, and develop the Youth Ministry in line with the vision of St Luke’s.
  • Plan and deliver engaging Sunday Youth sessions and Friday Horizon gatherings.
  • Build meaningful pastoral relationships with young people.
  • Encourage spiritual growth through teaching, mentoring, and discipleship.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer youth leaders.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with parents and carers.
  • Organise socials, trips, and annual events such as Youth Weekend Away.
  • Oversee safeguarding, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the church through collaboration with staff and participation in services.

  • Relational and pastoral: Values presence, conversation, and shared experiences.
  • Culturally aware but grounded: Able to connect with youth while remaining authentic and centred.
  • Creative and adaptable: Comfortable using media, story, film, and discussion to explore faith.
  • Authentic: Confident and secure in who they are; leads with warmth rather than performance.
Safeguarding

St Luke’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training.
