Job description
Artists Open Call for Youth ART Connects

Fruitmarket is looking for three freelance artists to deliver innovative, inclusive, and accessible creative projects with young people.

The programme, funded by the Young Start Lottery Fund, supports young people aged 16‑24 who are under‑represented within the cultural sector. It aims to change who gets to make and shape culture by opening up Fruitmarket and affirming that you belong here.

We will deliver three Youth ART Connects projects with partner organisations: LGBT Youth Scotland, Intercultural Youth Scotland, and RNIB Haggeye. Each project will include ten 2‑hour workshop sessions delivered in Fruitmarket.

Hourly rate: Scottish Artist Union rate of pay.

What does it involve?
  • You will plan and deliver a creative project using a co‑production model, working alongside a paid trainee, our partner organisations, and young people (aged 16‑24).
  • You will work with and mentor a paid youth trainee (aged 18–24).
  • You will be supported by the Fruitmarket Connecting Communities Manager.
  • You will be one of three freelance artists working with one of our partner organisations.
  • You will be paid in line with Scottish Artist Union rates.
  • All successful applicants will be subject to a PVG check for working with young people. We will also ask you to provide two references.
