Job summary

Archway Learning Trust is seeking an experienced pastoral leader to drive behaviour and learning culture across the school. You will collaborate with Senior Leaders to monitor progress and implement targeted interventions for students in designated groups.

You will engage parents, coordinate home/school links, and advocate safeguarding best practices, supporting the SENCo with EHC plan information as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Be proactive in establishing behaviour for learning across the school.
  • Meet with parents/carers to establish a strong sense of culture and the learning purpose within the School.

  • Monitor, record and evaluate the impact of various interventions for students within the designated group, ensuring use of feedback for the pastoral and faculty teams.
  • Access student voice via year group or focus groups, interviews and questionnaires analysing student feedback to promote the learning experience and inform best practice for Pastoral and Faculty teams.

Job description

  • Work closely with Senior Leaders and the Senior Leadership team tomonitor the individual progress of all students in the designated groupand take or support appropriate intervention to facilitate progress inline with target grades.
  • Monitor, record and evaluate the impact of various interventionsfor students within the designated group, ensuring use of, and feedbackfor, the most effective interventions by the Pastoral and Faculty Teams.
  • Identify students in need of specialised mentoring, and providementoring sessions where appropriate or facilitate alternative mentoringopportunities.
  • Access student voice via year group or, focus groups, interviewsand questionnaires analysing student feedback to promote the learningexperience and inform best practice for Pastoral and Faculty teams.
  • Proactively use the Go 4 Schools system to regularly monitorbehaviour and learning of all students, analysing any sub-group patternsand feeding back to Tutors, Mentors and the wider pastoral team, asappropriate.
  • Support and review parents’ evenings.
  • Establish and co-ordinate proactive intervention strategies forboth pastoral and learning progress by liaison with Pastoral Teams andHeads of Departments.
  • Lead tutor meetings and briefings and where necessary, pastoralmeetings.
  • Quality assure the effectiveness and delivery of the pastoralcurriculum.
  • Improve and monitor attendance of the year group in liaison withthe attendance officer.
  • Be involved in the creation and establishment of Pastoral SupportPlans and support the SENCo in collating information for EHC plans and JCQaccess assessments.
  • Champion an ethos and culture of high standards, resilience andself-belief within the student group through positive communication,assemblies and tutor time activities.
  • Conduct walkabout, lunchtime and afterschool duty, late duty andbus duty as appropriate.
  • Liaise with external agencies.
  • Safeguard vulnerable students whilst acting as the AssistantDesignated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Use of CPOMS or other safeguarding platforms to record and actionany student concerns
  • Accept reasonable changes in responsibility or teaching commitmentaccording to experience, expertise and the needs of the School.
  • Support the Academy with Events that take place throughout the yearas and when needed.
