Job Description

• Learn from experienced engineers, supporting your academic studies while developing skills for your future engineering career.
• Develop new technical and professional skills and gain valuable real‑world engineering experience.
• Gain insight into the wide range of engineering roles and projects across UKAEA.
• Work on a variety of projects, with typical assessment durations ranging from two weeks to three months.
• Contribute to projects supporting JET Decommissioning and Repurposing, MAST‑U, and Fusion Futures.
• Support design and equipment qualification activities within the Engineering Qualification team across UKAEA programmes.
• Apply a range of analysis methods, including static, dynamic, thermal, structural, fluid, and electromagnetic analyses.
• Use industry‑standard simulation tools, including ANSYS and other specialist software.
• Work on projects such as MAST‑U upgrades, STEP fusion power plant concept design, and JET tokamak decommissioning.
