Year 6 Class Teacher – Full Academic Year

Location: Orpington, Kent

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full academic year (September 2026 – July 2027)

Days: Monday to Friday

Pay: Paid to scale

We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Orpington, Kent who are seeking an experienced and committed Year 6 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026, covering the full academic year.

This is a full class teacher role, with responsibility for planning, teaching, assessment, marking and attendance at parents’ evenings. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils through their final year of primary education, including preparation for SATs and transition to secondary school.

The Role
  • Full-time Year 6 Class Teacher
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the curriculum
  • Monitoring progress and preparing pupils for KS2 SATs
  • Marking, assessment and reporting
  • Attending parents’ evenings and contributing to wider school life
  • Working collaboratively with the year group, SLT and support staff
The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold QTS
  • Have experience teaching upper KS2, ideally Year 6
  • Be confident with assessment, data and SATs preparation
  • Have strong behaviour management skills
  • Be organised, proactive and committed to high standards
  • Be happy to take full responsibility for the class
