Job title: Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newham

Start Date: May 2024

Contract Type: Full Time/ Long Term

Working Hours: 08:30 am to 03:45 pm (Monday to Friday)

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
  • Provide dedicated support in the mornings, focusing on assisting a Year 1 student with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, including ADHD diagnosis and potential self-harming behavior.
  • Offer crucial assistance in the afternoons, aiding Year 1 students and remaining flexible to work across Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Utilize your knowledge and skills to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SENCO to implement tailored support plans and interventions.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Support with Nappy Changing.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SEN, safeguarding, and child protection practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training in education, SEN, or child development are desirable.
