Job summary

Selwood in Bracknell is hiring a Yardsperson / Relief Driver to support the busy branch operations, coordinating loading and unloading of pumps and equipment to meet customer deadlines.

You will work onsite at the Bracknell site, keep yards tidy, assist with vehicle loading, operate lorries with crane, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations, tachographs, and PPE requirements. A Valid LGV with Hi-ab and forklift licence are essential.

Qualifications

• LGV Licence with Hi-ab (with hook).
• Forklift Licence.
• Previous work history within a similar environment.
• Good communicator with a can do attitude.
• Reliability is essential for this position.
• Physically fit due to the nature of the work within this role.

Responsibilities

• Keep the yard and workshops in a clean and tidy state.
• Assist loading and unloading of vehicles, checking against paperwork, missing, damages and fuel charges when needed.
• Assist fitter staff with tasks as instructed, e.g. lifting, moving, in depot or on-site.
• Clean hire equipment prior to entry to workshop, using pressure/steam-cleaning equipment.
• Be polite and co-operative with staff/customers, and promote the Company on-site.
• Communicate ETA’s and missing/damaged items to your supervisor.
• Comply with PPE requirements for Selwood or site regulations.
• Carry out work in compliance with Department of Transport Regulations and The Highway Code.
• Understand tachograph operation and drivers’ hours legislation, including digital tachographs.
• Maintain an understanding of the Working Time Directive for mobile workers.
• Carry out a risk visual assessment prior to loading and unloading.
• Ensure all loading and unloading activity is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
• Provide safe installation of pumping equipment using lorry mounted crane.
• Carry out daily maintenance and defect checks of the vehicle.
• May be on call outs and be on the rota either regularly or on an ad-hoc basis.
