Job summary

Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd in Wimborne, Dorset, is seeking a Yard Operator to support yard and logistics operations. You will move, store and prepare materials in the external yard, using forklifts and manual handling where required, ensuring safe and efficient processes on site.

The role requires experience in yard environments, a Counterbalance forklift licence, and a focus on safety. Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors and collaborating with stores and logistics teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard, logistics, warehouse or similar operations.
• Forklift licence – Counterbalance is essential; Flexi/Bendi desirable.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong health and safety awareness in a yard environment.
• Basic IT skills for material movements and recording; SAP advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate mainly in the yard, managing daily material movement, storage and organisation.
• Handle incoming/outgoing collections and deliveries with accurate checking and documentation.
• Prepare and organise pallets, stillages and materials for production and dispatch.
• Maintain clear yard layout and safe, accessible material storage.
• Move materials using forklift trucks and other handling equipment safely.
• Support dispatch preparation and staging for transport.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping and safe working environment.
