Job summary

The Timber Group is seeking a Yard Assistant to join our branch team, reporting to the Yard Supervisor and Branch Management. You will help with deliveries, stock checks, and maintaining a tidy yard while delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll operate a forklift for loading, uphold health and safety standards, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient branch operations. A forklift licence is an advantage, and we offer training and development along with a generous benefits

Qualifications

• Experience with receiving and checking deliveries in a branch.
• Ability to keep the yard tidy and stock identifiable.
• Health and safety compliance awareness.
• Forklift licence would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check off deliveries and store securely per health and safety guidelines.
• Serve customers promptly and efficiently at all times.
• Keep the yard tidy and stock clearly identifiable; flag low stock to management.
• Use a forklift to assist with picking and loading company vehicles.
• Help deter theft and work as part of the branch team to ensure smooth operations.

Job description

As a Yard Assistant, you would be working in one of our branches as part of a team where everyone is putting the effort in to offer brilliant customer service and to get the job done. You would report to the Yard Supervisor and the Branch Management Team.

Here's what you can expect to do as a Yard Assistant with The Timber Group:

• Receive and check off deliveries to the branch, highlighting any anomalies and ensuring secure, correct and timely storage of such deliveries in line with health and safety guidelines
• Ensuring that customers are served promptly and efficiently at all times.
• Ensure that the yard is kept tidy at all times, that stock is clearly identifiable and low stock levels highlighted to branch management where necessary to make sure certain products are available at all times.
• Using a forklift truck to assist with picking and loading of company vehicles.
• Actively safeguard against theft of goods or company property by being security conscious at all times.
• Work and communicate as a team member to ensure the branch operates efficiently and effectively within company policy.
