If you thrive under pressure and enjoy a challenge, this is the perfect opportunity to make a real difference, supporting our vital charity work.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly, engaging, and efficient service to all our donors and customers.
  • Merchandising & Display: Creatively arrange stock to maximize sales and create an appealing shopping environment.
  • Sales & Till Operation: Confidently handle sales transactions and cash handling.
  • High-Volume Sorting: Efficiently and quickly process hundreds of bags of incoming donations (clothing, accessories, bric-a-brac, books, etc.).
  • Quality Control: Accurately select items suitable for sale, identifying designer, vintage, or high-value items, and correctly discard or recycle unsaleable goods.
  • Pricing: Research and accurately price a wide variety of items to maximize revenue while ensuring they offer great value.
  • Stock Rotation: Organise and manage the stock room, ensuring a constant and fresh flow of items is ready for the shop floor.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate closely with the retail team and volunteers to meet daily sales targets.
  • Manual Handling: While mostly lighter items, the role involves frequent lifting, bending, and moving heavy bags and boxes of donations.
  • Shop Maintenance: Help keep the shop floor, storage areas, and displays clean, tidy, and safe.
What You Need
  • Exceptional Pace and Energy: You must be able to maintain high productivity and focus throughout the day in a physically demanding role.
  • Superb Organizational Skills: You can handle large quantities of different items and keep the processing area tidy and efficient.
  • Product Knowledge: A strong interest in fashion, brands, or general household goods is highly beneficial (or a quick learner!).
  • Reliability: You are dependable and understand the critical nature of this role to the shop's operation.
  • A “Can-Do” Attitude: You enjoy working as part of a team and are happy to get stuck into any task required.
  • Great Team Player: You are reliable, supportive, and communicate well with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Customer Focused: You enjoy engaging with the public and have excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible: You are willing to adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout the day.
  • Working pattern: A monthly rotation of a three/two-day working pattern, including weekends and bank holidays, must be available to cover in other shops within the wider retail team as required and occasional travel to team meetings.
  • Previous retail or charity shop experience is a bonus, but not essential—a great attitude is!
What We Offer
  • The chance to be a key player in an operation that makes a huge impact on our charity's vital work.
  • A fun, dynamic, and supportive working environment where you see new things every day.
  • (We do reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.)
