Job description

We have a fantastic secondment opportunity as a Wound Clinic Lead Nurse based at the Derby City Wound Clinic. The role is suitable for Band 5 or a Band 6 with significant post‑registration experience.

About the role

This post offers an excellent chance to gain experience in operational management of an immediate team. The successful candidate will be proactive, energetic, and committed to delivering high‑quality, holistic patient care while valuing input from all team members.

Responsibilities
  • Overall caseload management and daily supervision of workload.
  • Monitor standards of care and deploy team members appropriately.
  • Escalate clinical or operational issues to the direct line manager.
  • Coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes reflecting the individual needs of patients and carers.
  • Stay informed of local and national issues influencing services and apply this knowledge to practice.
  • Facilitate, develop, evaluate, and share good working practice.
  • Act as a champion for the wound clinic service area as required.
  • Respond proactively to challenging, unpredictable situations or behaviours within the caring environment.
  • Manage complaints, errors, concerns, and other untoward occurrences in line with local policies, procedures, and guidelines, including safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
  • Support the development of a culture that is open to change and innovation.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Act as a role model and actively support students and less experienced staff.
  • Recognise the diversity of the local population, consider individual choices, beliefs and preferences, and promote equal access to services.

Location & Pay

Post based at Florence Nightingale Hospital, London Road, Derby, DE1 2QY. Pay award for 2024/25 will be reflected from October 2024, with any arrears paid in November 2024.
