Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in the United Kingdom is seeking qualified HGV Technicians to join their team. The role involves routine inspections and repairs on various heavy goods vehicles, including refrigerated and commercial vehicles. Candidates must hold relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ, and additional licenses like HGV Class 1 or Class 2 are preferred. Competitive pay and overtime opportunities are available for this Monday to Friday position.

Qualifications

  • Qualified HGV Technician with extensive mechanical background.
  • Experience in carrying out inspections and repairs on various vehicle types.
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on a diverse fleet.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections.
  • Conduct scheduled servicing to DVSA standards.
  • Diagnose and repair gearbox and clutch issues.
  • Inspect and correct electrical and wiring defects.
  • Work on hydraulics and pneumatic systems.

Job Overview

On a daily basis they continually strive to deliver exceptional products and services to all their customers, We are looking for qualified and time served HGV Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

This is a Monday to Friday role and there is a split shift pattern (earlies & Lates), with overtime available.

There may also be an on-call rota and some Saturday overtime.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on heavy goods vehicles (HGV's), refrigerated Vehicles, Tail Lifts, light commercials (vans), trailers and various delivery products.

Responsibilities

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

  • Routine (and preventative)
  • MOT preparation
  • Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
  • Gearbox and clutch repairs and maintenance
  • 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
  • Correction of running defects
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Improvement of vehicle standards
  • Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Qualifications

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC or EV qualification would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
