Qualifications

  • Good level of PC literacy, including basic MS Office applications.
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in engineering/mechanical subject.

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs and overhauls on time, to standard, and within budgets.
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices and quality standards.
  • Maintain stock levels of materials and ensure appropriate tools are ready.
  • Test and evaluate refurbished equipment per ISO standards.

We’re looking for a Workshop Technician based in our Elgin depot to help ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of our equipment, contributing to the success of our team and customers.

What you’ll do:
  • Ensure the completion of repairs and overhauls on time, to standard, and within agreed budgets for both specific repairs and overall department budgets
  • Ensure adherence to safety practices and quality standards.
  • Carry out the total maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain the stock levels of materials required and ensure that the appropriate tools are in place and ready for use
  • Report and document component failures
  • Contribute to optimum team performance and capability by providing quality work to maintain and enhance the reliability of equipment
  • Assist, support, and train service crew
  • Test and evaluate refurbished and repaired generators and prepare test reports as per ISO standards
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering/mechanical subject (can include apprenticeship)
  • Experience servicing and repairing large engines (generators, automotive, HGV, PCV/LGV, plant equipment, forklift trucks, agricultural machinery)
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Good level of PC literacy, including basic MS Office applications
  • Well-organised and capable of keeping a vehicle to GSCS standards
