Job summary

Envirogen is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead the Alfreton workshop, ensuring safe, efficient operation and high maintenance standards. You will drive team development and coordinate maintenance across equipment, assets and vehicles.

Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical knowledge, proven leadership, and a proactive approach to health and safety, quality, and process improvements. Monday–Friday, with a focus on delivering sustainable water solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a workshop leadership or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance knowledge and hands‑on technical skills.
  • Experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of technicians and mechanics.
  • Plan and coordinate workshop activities, repairs and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Manage workshop resources, tools, equipment and spares inventory.
  • Monitor productivity and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support water and wastewater projects through workshop operations.
  • Maintain accurate service, maintenance and inspection records.

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum

Location: Alfreton

Hours: Monday to Friday, Full Time (No Shift Pattern)

What You’ll Be Doing

As Workshop Supervisor, you'll take ownership of the day‑to‑day management of our workshop, ensuring equipment, assets, and vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of technicians and mechanics
  • Planning and coordinating workshop activities, repairs, and maintenance schedules
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Managing workshop resources, tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory
  • Monitoring productivity and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting water and wastewater treatment projects through effective workshop operations
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate service, maintenance, and inspection records
  • Collaborating with operational and project teams to meet business objectives
What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a proactive leader who can balance technical expertise with excellent people management skills.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a Workshop Supervisor, Workshop Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or similar role
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and repair knowledge
  • Experience leading and developing technical teams
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • A positive, solution‑focused approach
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and quality standards
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships

Experience within the water, wastewater, industrial, engineering, manufacturing, plant hire, utilities, or related sectors would be highly advantageous.
