Job summary

Integrate Engineering Resources Ltd in Scunthorpe is seeking a Workshop Manager with a strong engineering background in steel fabrication to lead the local workshop and drive high performance in the Energy and Utilities sectors.

You will manage workflow, plan jobs, read drawings, and ensure safety and quality while coordinating with procurement and design to deliver on time.

The role offers from £39,000 per annum, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Workshop Manager in steel fabrication.
  • Proficient in workflow management systems and MS Office.
  • Ability to plan, delegate and lead a team in a fast-paced workshop.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workflow to deliver efficient service and lead workshop development.
  • Plan jobs and delegate tasks to the team.
  • Conduct daily briefs to the fabrication team.
  • Develop SOPs and RAMS for safety and quality.
  • Lead production control and NCR system.
  • Review drawings and coordinate with design.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Liaise with procurement for steel and services.
  • Support tenders with technical input.

Salary: From £39,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 40hrs/week, Mon-Fri

The Role

Integrate Engineering Resources is currently recruiting for a Workshop Manager based in Scunthorpe, on behalf of our client, a market leader in the Energy and Utilities sectors. This role will suit an ambitious workshop manager with an experienced engineering background within the steel fabrication industry, with the desire to continue developing the Scunthorpe workshop whilst utilising the skills and knowledge of the existing team.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively manage workflow to provide optimal service delivery efficiency and lead the technical development of the workshop and products manufactured to timescales.
  • Capable of building and working as a strong team.
  • Able to plan jobs and delegate to team members.
  • Carry out daily briefs to fabrication team to ensure all staff are aware of what is expected.
  • Developing and implementing workshop Standard Operating Procedures and RAMS to ensure high quality and optimum safety performance.
  • Leading the factory production control procedure undertaking the role of deputy RWC, running the NCR system capturing all relevant information.
  • Reading and understanding technical drawings, resolving arising issues with the design department.
  • Controlling job packs and fabrication drawings, carryout technical reviews and quality checks ensuring all works are carried out in accordance to the relevant weld procedures, welder qualifications and quality acceptance criteria.
  • Ensuring all health and safety compliance is adhered to at all times.
  • Inductions on machinery and safe daily running of the workshop.
  • Liaising with procurement in relation to downstream & upstream services such as steel deliveries, galvanising, consumables and transport.
  • Supporting Contract / Project Managers with quotations, estimates, pricing and technical input for tenders.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Manager in the steel fabrication industry with a proven track record of performance.
  • Excellent IT skills, proficient at utilising work flow management systems and Microsoft packages such as word, excel and project.
  • A proven track record of understanding and working within a fast-paced, fabrication environment.
