About The Role

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and highly organised Workshop Manager to work within our Controls division. This is a hands‑on leadership role and is ideal for someone who can drive a safe, efficient and productive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Planning, coordinating and overseeing all workshop operations and workflows.
  • Ensuring work is completed on time, within budget and to specified quality standards (overtime working may be necessary at times to ensure client needs are met).
  • Managing workshop scheduling to optimise productivity and turnaround time.
  • Monitoring and maintaining workshop equipment, tools, testing equipment and inventory.
  • Implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations, risk assessments and safe working practices. Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations (e.g., ISO 9001 standards).
  • Conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, tool inspections and training refreshers.
  • Controlling waste and support budgeting activities.
  • Preparing regular operational reports for senior management.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Strong understanding of workshop processes (mechanical, fabrication, electrical, safety, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, motors, PLCs and industry equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with workshop management systems, relevant electrical codes and standards.
  • Excellent people management and team leadership skills.
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Demonstratable experience in electrical installation, maintenance and manufacture.
