A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Workshop Fitter in Portsmouth to inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers to meet DVSA standards. Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Fitter / Trailer Technician / Trailer Fitter or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of trailer components and repair techniques.
  • Valid HGV driver's license is a plus.

  • Diagnose and fix issues with brakes, suspension, lighting, bodywork, and other components.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

Position: Workshop Fitter
Location: Portsmouth
Job Type: Permanent, Monday – Friday 7am-4pm or 9am-6pm
Salary: £45,000 (DEO)

The Role

As a Workshop Fitter you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various types of trailers, ensuring they meet DVSA standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on trailers
  • Diagnose and fix issues with brakes, suspension, lighting, bodywork and other components
  • Conduct welding and fabrication work when necessary
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Workshop Fitter / Trailer Technician / Trailer Fitter or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of trailer components and repair techniques
  • Must have experience working on commercial vehicles
  • \
  • Welding and fabrication experience (preferred but not required)
  • Must have own tools
  • A valid HGV driver’s license (is a plus)
