Qualifications

  • CSCS Card is required.
  • Confined Space training is mandatory.
  • Overhead Crane, Lifting & slinging Operator Licence required.
  • Water Hygiene qualified candidates are preferred.
  • Must possess a Full Clean Driving Licence.
  • Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or similar required.
  • Experience with Electric Motor & Control Equipment is needed.
  • Previous experience with pumps & rotating equipment is necessary.
  • ATEX knowledge and experience are required.
  • Fault finding skills are essential.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is necessary.
  • Forklift licences are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct de-contamination of pump units prior to inspection.
  • Dismantle, inspect, and report on pump unit condition.
  • Assemble pump sets as required.
  • Identify spare parts required from engineering drawings.
  • Compile detailed inspection reports based on findings.
  • Perform mechanical measurements of components.
  • Conduct electrical inspections of pumps.
  • Test pumps as needed.
  • Assist in other departments when necessary.
  • Collect and deliver pumps/equipment as required.
  • Assist on-site jobs as needed.
  • Remain flexible to carry out other requests by the Service Delivery Manager.
Job description

A Workshop Fitter opportunity is available with my client who are leading and well-respected pump business. Their ideal candidate will have previous fitter experience of dismantling, rebuilding and refurbishment of pumps or relevant rotating equipment. The role will be workshop based with occasional site visits.

Workshop Fitter role

The successful Workshop Fitter will be workshop based and involved in dismantling, rebuilding and refurbishment of pumps. You will be responsible for ensuring all inspection and assembly documentation is completed and procedures, policies and work instructions are followed.

  • De‑contamination of pump units prior to inspection
  • Dismantling, inspection and reporting of pump unit condition
  • Assembly of pump sets
  • Identification of spare parts required from drawings
  • Compilation of findings into detailed inspection report
  • Mechanical measurement of components and critical dimensions
  • Electrical inspection of pumps
  • Assembly of pumps
  • Testing of pumps
  • Assisting within other departments when required
  • Collecting/delivering of pumps/equipment if required
  • Assisting on site jobs where required
  • Flexible to carry out other reasonable requests by the Service Delivery Manager
