Overview

Job Title: Workshop Engineer (Yard Based)

Location: Northampton

Salary: Up to GBP 45,000 Basic, Pension, 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays (increasing with service), Full Training Provided

Hours: Mon–Thu 8:00–17:30 / Fri 8:00–16:30

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Engineer to join a well-established service team. This role is primarily based in the yard, carrying out maintenance, inspections and repairs on a fleet of self-erecting and tower cranes, with occasional site call-outs when required. The position offers full training, long-term career development and the chance to develop expertise across both mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities Of The Role
  • Carry out service, repair and planned maintenance on cranes
  • Diagnose and repair faults on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Conduct inspections, fault-finding and compliance checks
  • Work independently as well as part of a service team
  • Attend occasional site call-outs (vehicle provided)
  • Follow health and safety policies, including working at height
Requirements Of The Role
  • Previous experience working with large plant, heavy equipment or similar machinery
  • Crane experience desirable but not essential (training provided)
  • Strong mechanical skills with some electrical knowledge
  • Physically fit and confident working outdoors and at height
  • Detail-oriented, safety-focused and able to work independently
