Job summary

Mitie Group plc is seeking a Working Cleaning Supervisor at Hitachi Rail depot in Bristol. You will supervise cleaning operations, manage KPIs and safety procedures, and lead site teams to deliver reliable services.

You will liaise with depot management, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvements while ensuring rail safety compliance and effective use of permit-to-work systems. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours, with a Monday–Friday pattern.

Responsibilities

• Supervise cleaning operations at Stoke Gifford Rail Maintenance Depot to meet KPIs and SLAs.
• Act as liaison between Mitie teams and rail client's depot management.
• Monitor service delivery against contractual obligations and seek improvements.
• Lead site-based teams and conduct audits and performance reviews.
• Oversee workforce planning for depot coverage across shifts.
• Represent Mitie in meetings, safety briefings, and contract reviews.
• Track KPIs and provide updates to line management.
• Manage supplier performance where subcontracted services are involved (Nilfisk).

Job Title: Working Cleaning Supervisor
Rate of Pay: £15.45 Per hour
Position Type: Permanent
Type of Employment: Full time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (8:00 am -16:00 pm)
Location: Hitachi Rail, Northway, Little Stoke, Filton, Bristol, England, BS34 7QG

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management

• Supervise the cleaning operations at the Stoke Gifford Rail Maintenance Depot, ensuring all services are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, KPIs, SLAs, and site safety procedures.
• Manage operational performance, service delivery standards, and compliance of Stoke Gifford.
• Act as the key liaison between Mitie operational teams and the rail client's engineering and depot management teams.
• Monitor service delivery against contractual obligations and identify opportunities for operational improvements.

Rail Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all cleaning services operate in accordance with rail safety requirements and depot safety procedures.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of RAMS relevant to rail depot environments.
• Ensure teams are compliant with depot safety rules, isolation procedures, and engineering working environments.
• Work closely with site management to ensure compliance with safety documentation and permit systems.

Operational Leadership

• Lead and supervise site-based teams including cleaning operatives working within operational rail facilities.
• Conduct regular audits, and performance reviews.
• Oversee workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage across Stoke Gifford depot across all shifts.

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong working relationships with depot management teams, engineering staff, and operational leadership.
• Represent Mitie in operational meetings, safety briefings, and contract performance reviews.

Performance & Reporting

• Track contract KPIs and operational performance metrics. (Merlin, Q-Audit and Nilfisk)
• Provide performance operational updates to your line management.
• Manage supplier performance where subcontracted services are involved. (Nilfisk)

Essential Experience

• Rail depot experience
• Good communications skills.
• Demonstrable experience of managing operational service delivery within rail or transport environments.

Qualifications / Training

Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrable experience in cleaning supervision.
• Personal Track Safety (PTS) awareness or willingness to obtain.
• LTSA (Line Track Safety Awareness) training, or an equivalent rail safety qualification, is required and must be successfully completed during the probationary period. Continued employment will be subject to meeting this requirement.
• Experience working within rail depot safety environments.
• Understanding of engineering depot operational procedures.
