About You

You’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and helping them take positive steps forward. With excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills, you’ll know how to encourage and motivate participants, offering the right level of challenge while always remaining supportive, respectful and non-judgemental.

You’ll feel comfortable using digital systems, including Microsoft Office and case management or CRM systems, and be happy to work flexibly across different delivery locations within the contract area when needed. Most importantly, you’ll care about creating a positive experience for every participant and share our commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring people feel welcomed, valued and supported throughout their journey with us.

The Role

As a Work Coach you will manage a caseload of participants, providing personalised, strengths-based employment support that helps individuals move towards and into sustainable work. You will build trusted and professional relationships, understand each participant’s circumstances, skills and aspirations, and agree clear actions that create meaningful and timely progression.

Working in a performance-driven environment, as a Work Coach you will be accountable for participant engagement, progression and outcomes, maintaining high-quality and compliant records and working closely with employers, training colleagues and specialist partners.

The role requires a strong understanding of the local labour market and the ability to connect participants to vacancies, skills development and other support that will improve their prospects of securing and sustaining employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an allocated caseload effectively, maintaining regular, purposeful contact and taking ownership of participant progression from initial engagement through to employment and sustained outcomes.
  • Meet and strive to exceed individual and team performance targets, including engagement, activity, progression, job starts and sustained employment outcomes.
  • Complete effective initial and ongoing assessments to understand each participant’s work history, skills, aspirations, strengths, barriers, support needed and readiness for employment.
  • Co-produce personalised action plans with clear, stretching and time-bound actions, reviewing and adapting these regularly to maintain momentum towards employment.
  • Deliver high-quality one-to-one coaching that motivates, challenges and supports participants to take ownership of their journey towards work.
  • Provide practical job-search support, including CV development, applications, interview preparation, digital job search, confidence building and preparation for employer opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and complete participant records, ensuring all activity, actions, evidence and outcomes meet contractual, quality, audit and data requirements.
  • Use management information and caseload data to understand individual performance, prioritise activity and take action where participants are not progressing as expected.
  • Experience of supporting, coaching or advising individuals to achieve employment, learning or personal progression goals.
  • Experience working in a target-driven or performance-focused environment.
  • Good working knowledge of the local labour market and the ability to use labour market information to support job matching and progression.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise activity and maintain momentum with participants.
  • Experience of producing accurate case notes, action plans or other customer records within required timescales.
  • Experience of employability, recruitment, careers, skills or welfare-to-work provision.
  • Experience providing information, advice and guidance and making effective referrals to specialist services.
  • Understanding of barriers to employment and approaches that support people with differing needs to progress towards work.
