Job description

Work-Based Tutor in Agriculture – Lancashire area

At Myerscough, our values drive us: we are passionate about education, collaborative in our approach, professional in everything we do, and committed to Fredie (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement).

About the role

Are you passionate about the agricultural industry and considering a career change?

Would you like to use your practical farming knowledge and industry experience to help develop the next generation of agricultural professionals?

Do you want a role that offers flexibility, progression opportunities and a better work/life balance?

If so, this could be the role for you.

As a Work-Based Tutor in Agriculture, you'll play a vital role in supporting apprentices working towards Agriculture apprenticeship standards. Drawing on your experience within the farming industry, you'll guide learners as they develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed in their careers.

Working with a cohort of apprentices across your allocated region, you will carry out workplace visits, monitor progress and provide engaging teaching, learning and assessment support. You'll build strong relationships with both learners and employers, helping apprentices achieve their qualifications while meeting industry expectations.

We're looking for someone with current or recent agricultural industry experience, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting others to succeed. Previous teaching experience is not essential, as full training and support can be provided.

Join our team of dedicated professional tutors as a Work-Based Tutor in Agriculture and make a lasting impact on the future of the industry.

Location of work

The position is to support apprentices around various counties in the Lancashire area. This is a field-based role where the tutor works from home, supported by the College. There is a requirement to attend Apprenticeship and Skills development days at the Preston campus which take place 3 to 4 times per year (subsistence and accommodation provided). From time to time, you may work collaboratively with other tutors or deliver from specific locations. Occasionally, you may be asked to work out of area for business reasons, in which case accommodation will be provided.

At Myerscough College and University Centre we have a nationally and internationally recognised Further Education, Higher Education, Adult Education and Apprenticeship provision. The Further Education provision is well established, the Higher Education provision has a well-recongised partnership with the University of Lancashire and the apprenticeship provision is operational nationally. We offer a rewarding and enjoyable working environment, where colleagues are inspired to make a positive difference to the educational experience and employability of our students. We are one of the top five largest land-based and sports colleges in the UK.
