Job description

Help keep our website up to date by uploading evidence-based resources to our WordPress site. You’ll support healthcare workers living with Long Covid by making trusted information accessible while gaining valuable digital content, SEO and website management experience.

What difference will you make?

Every resource you publish will help healthcare workers, people living with Long Covid, their families and healthcare professionals access trustworthy, evidence-based information when they need it most.

Healthcare workers continue to experience some of the highest rates of Long Covid in the UK, yet finding reliable, up-to-date information can be difficult. By ensuring our online Resources Page is accurate, accessible and easy to navigate, you’ll help people find practical guidance, the latest research and information that can support their health, wellbeing and decision-making.

Your work will also strengthen Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK’s wider mission. Our resources are used not only by healthcare workers but also by policymakers, researchers, journalists and campaigners. By helping us publish and maintain high-quality content, you’ll support our efforts to improve understanding of Long Covid, promote evidence-based infection prevention and influence national policy.

Although much of your work will happen behind the scenes, its impact will be far-reaching. Every article, research summary, video or guide you upload has the potential to reach thousands of people through our website, newsletters and social media channels.

As a small charity, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Your contribution will enable us to publish new resources more quickly, keep existing content up to date and ensure our information remains accessible to everyone who needs it.

Ultimately, you’ll be helping us ensure that healthcare workers who have spent their careers caring for others can easily access the evidence, information and support they deserve. Your work will directly contribute to improving awareness of Long Covid, supporting safer healthcare environments and helping SHH‑UK achieve its mission of standing alongside healthcare workers affected by Long Covid.

What are we looking for?

We need to be an expert in Long Covid or healthcare, but you should be committed to our mission of supporting healthcare workers and making evidence‑based information easy to access.

The most important qualities are attention to detail, a willingness to learn and the ability to work independently while being part of a supportive remote team. You’ll be comfortable following agreed processes and take pride in producing accurate, high‑quality work.

Ideally, you’ll have
  • Good written English, with strong proofreading skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Confidence using computers and online systems.
  • Experience using WordPress or another content management system, or a willingness to learn.
  • An understanding of basic SEO principles, or an interest in developing these skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other volunteers.
  • A commitment to equality, accessibility and evidence‑based information.

Experience of website content management, digital publishing, communications or administration would be helpful. We provide a full induction, guidance and ongoing support, so we’re happy to hear from people who have transferable skills and are keen to learn.

This role would particularly suit someone interested in digital communications, website management, content publishing, health information or the voluntary sector. It could also be a great opportunity for someone looking to build experience in WordPress, SEO or digital content management while contributing to a cause that makes a real difference.

Above all, we’re looking for someone who shares our values and wants to use their skills to help healthcare workers living with Long Covid access trustworthy, accessible information. As a small charity, every volunteer has a meaningful impact, and you’ll be a valued member of a friendly and supportive team.

What will you be doing?

As a Resources Content Uploader, you’ll play an important role in ensuring healthcare workers, people living with Long Covid, and others can easily access reliable, evidence-based information through the Supporting Healthcare Heroes UK website.

Working as part of our friendly Resources Team, you’ll upload approved content to our WordPress website, helping us keep our growing library of resources organised, accessible and up to date. You won’t be expected to write the content itself, but you’ll ensure it is presented clearly and consistently for our website visitors.

Your key responsibilities will include
  • Uploading approved articles, research summaries, videos and other resources to our WordPress website.
  • Formatting content in line with our branding, accessibility and website guidelines.
  • Adding appropriate categories, tags and featured images to improve navigation.
  • Writing concise SEO titles and summaries to help people find our resources through search engines.
  • Updating our content tracking spreadsheets once resources have been published.
  • Checking published content for accuracy and consistency.
  • Working with the Resources Team to ensure information remains current and easy to access.

You’ll work closely with other volunteers who identify, summarise and review research and resources before they’re uploaded. The role is flexible and fully remote, allowing you to contribute around 2–3 hours per week at times that suit you.

This role would suit someone who enjoys organisation, has good attention to detail, and would like to gain or develop experience of WordPress, digital content management and SEO while supporting an organisation making a real difference to healthcare workers living with Long Covid.

Every resource you publish helps ensure that healthcare workers, patients, carers and policymakers can quickly find trustworthy information when they need it most.
