Speech and Language Therapist

Location: Baston House School – Kent, BR2 7AB

Salary: £35,000 – £53,200 (FTE, DOE) plus £5,000 welcome bonus (two payments of £2,500 after probationary period). Relocation package available.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Mon‑Fri (part‑time hours may be considered).

Contract: Permanent.

Role Summary: We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Baston House School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will embed Speech and Language Therapy approaches wherever possible at the whole school level through assessment, observation, consultation, training and joint interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embed SAMT approach at whole‑school level through assessment, observation, consultation, training and joint interventions.
  • Assess, observe and support pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
  • Provide specialised assessment and intervention to foster independence within an education setting.
  • Coordinate staff training and contribute to clinical excellence reviews.
  • Maintain high presence and visibility within school and classroom.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree.
  • Valid HCPC registration, registered member of RCSLT.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in a similar setting.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and clinical understanding.
  • Experience in multi‑disciplinary working across a range of settings.
  • Excellent communication, report‑writing and time‑management skills.
  • Experience in providing professional and clinical supervision.
  • Experience in research projects and audits.

Desirable:

  • Exceptional relationship building, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of core SALT practice.
  • Strong communication standards.
