Job summary

vgroup is seeking an experienced Wiper to join the cruise vessel Spirit of Adventure. Embarkation is scheduled for 19 November 2026, with a contract of 6 months on and 2 months off.

The role requires STCW 95 and Engine Watch Rating A-III/4, strong mechanical knowledge, and fluent English for safety and communication aboard the ship. Applicants should be physically fit and ready to join on the specified date.

Qualifications

  • Perform engine checks and assist in routine repairs.

Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Wiper to join the cruise vessel Spirit of Adventure, with embarkation scheduled for 19 November 2026.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Wiper, preferably on passenger/cruise vessels
  • Valid and up-to-date STCW and other required certificates
  • Good employment references and recommendations
  • Good English communication skills
  • Available and ready to join on the specified date

Position Summary
  1. Responsible to carry out daily maintenance and cleaning of engine spaces, machinery and mechanical equipment as directed by the Engineer in charge.
Reporting Structure
  1. Reporting to the Staff Engineer and on duty Engineer.
Safety Duties
  1. Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
  2. Must always comply with the Company's safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
  3. Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
  4. Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
  1. Valid STCW 95 certification.
  2. Valid Engine Watch Rating certification A-III/4.
  3. Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.
  4. Experience with stripping engines down and rebuilding.
  5. Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.
  6. Physically and medically fit.
  7. Moral integrity is required.
Language requirements:

Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments.
