Job summary

A leading offshore wind company in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a Wind Turbine Principal Engineer to lead the design and technical operations of floating turbine technology. You will manage turbine design, interface with major OEMs, and tackle complex engineering challenges. The ideal candidate has chartered engineer status and extensive experience in offshore wind design. This full-time contract role offers a hybrid working environment and is outside IR35.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer status required.
  • 10–15 years of offshore wind design experience required.
  • Proficient in engineering modeling and analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and verification of advanced aeroelastic turbine models.
  • Drive turbine controller development and performance validation.
  • Deliver specialist support to the Offshore Wind business.

Wind Turbine Principal Engineer

£65 / 70 p / h

As Principal Engineer, you will be a key technical authority within our Offshore Wind business line, driving turbine design excellence and acting as the primary interface with major turbine OEMs.

This is a high‑impact opportunity to influence complex engineering challenges and deliver cutting‑edge solutions for large‑scale offshore wind developments.

The Role
  • Lead the creation and verification of advanced aeroelastic turbine models.
  • Drive turbine controller development, tuning, and performance validation.
  • Conduct comprehensive turbine and controller assessments and support tower design activities.
  • Oversee, support, and verify ILA workflows, working closely with external contractors.
  • Engage directly with clients through high‑level technical meetings and reviews.
  • Deliver specialist support to the Offshore Wind business on advanced structural analyses and numerical simulations.
  • Produce industry‑standard technical documentation and high‑quality engineering reports.
The Person
  • Chartered Engineer with a degree in Engineering (Aeronautical preferred).
  • 10‑15 years of offshore wind design experience across floating and fixed substructures.
  • Strong knowledge of DNV / IEC standards, WTG design, and turbine engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as OrcaFlex, Bladed, FAST, and MS365.
