Job summary

Astute People is seeking a Site Manager to oversee operations and maintenance across onshore wind farm sites in the York region. The role features a competitive salary, pension, benefits and flexible home-based working.

You will manage day-to-day site operations, ensure HV/LV safety compliance, coordinate permit-to-work, and support incident response with on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in engineering or technical discipline.
• Experience with HV/LV electrical systems and their maintenance.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage safe day-to-day operation of renewable energy sites, including inspections and emergencies.
• Operate and maintain HV/LV electrical equipment in line with safety rules.
• Manage permit-to-work system ensuring safe completion of works.
• Review SSOW and risk assessments; ensure inductions and competence.
• Coordinate PPM activities and ensure timely completion per HSE requirements.
• Liaise with DNOs and Transmission Licencees regarding outages.
• Record and report incidents; support new site/equipment integration and 24-hour on-call rota.

Astute’s Renewables Team is partnering with a leading renewable energy consultancy with a strong focus on sustainability, safety and professional development, to recruit a Site Manager to oversee operations and maintenance activities across onshore wind farm sites in the York region.

Responsibilities and duties of the Site Manager role

Reporting To The Area Manager You Will

• Manage the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of renewable energy sites, including inspections and emergency response.
• Operate and maintain HV/LV electrical equipment in line with relevant Safety Rules.
• Manage the permit-to-work system, ensuring works are completed safely and in accordance with company and client requirements.
• Review contractor SSOW and risk assessments, ensuring personnel are suitably inducted and competent.
• Coordinate PPM activities, ensuring works are completed on schedule and in line with HSE requirements.
• Liaise with DNOs and Transmission Licencees regarding outages and works near system boundaries.
• Complete site inspections, audits and reports, while maintaining accurate H&S, environmental and O&M documentation.
• Record and follow up incidents, support new site/equipment integration and participate in the 24-hour on-call rota.

Professional Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline.
• Experience with HV/LV electrical systems.
• Experience in maintenance, fault-finding and repair of electro-mechanical systems.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
• IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous.
• Previous renewable energy experience would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of wind turbine technology would be beneficial.
