Job summary

British Gas is seeking experienced White Goods Engineers (Contractors) to join our trusted engineering community. As a contractor, you'll visit customers' homes to diagnose, repair and maintain a range of kitchen appliances, working independently with full support when needed.

You must have at least 2 years of hands-on repair experience, broad appliance knowledge, strong fault-finding skills, excellent customer service, and a full UK driving licence with your own tools.

We're now looking for experienced White Goods Engineers (Contractors) to work alongside our established engineering community and help us deliver on our British Gas Service Promise, including our commitment to same-day fixes wherever possible.

The Role

As a contractor White Goods Engineer supporting British Gas, you'll attend customers' homes to diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of kitchen and white goods appliances. You'll be trusted to work independently in the field, representing the British Gas brand in customers' homes, while having access to strong operational, managerial and technical support when you need it. Some repairs can be complex, so confidence, experience and a calm, professional approach are essential.

Typical appliances you'll work on, will be Washing machines, Tumble dryers, Dishwashers, Refrigeration & Microwaves.

What We're Looking For

• At least 2 years' proven, hands-on experience repairing white goods appliances
• Broad technical knowledge across multiple appliance types
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Excellent customer service skills - you understand that how you fix matters as much as what you fix
• A commitment to safe working and first-time-fix outcomes
• Pride in your workmanship and professionalism in customers' homes

Contractor Essentials

• Self-employed / contractor status
• Your own tools and test equipment appropriate for white goods repair
• Full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
• Relevant insurances (e.g. Public Liability)
