Job summary

A healthcare service organization based in Croydon is seeking a Wheelchair Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing and reconditioning both manual and powered wheelchairs. You will work closely with clinical staff and provide technical support. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential. A full UK driving licence is required. Wheelchair Technician

Salary £25,001 - £35,000 FTE depending on skills and experience

Location: Croydon (Surrey)

Full-time - 40 Hours

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Wheelchair Technician to join our Wheelchair Service team. Provide Equipment Hub supports people in Croydon who require mobility equipment to achieve and maintain their lifestyle choices.

The wheelchair technician role will work as part of a team alongside experienced therapists and other technicians to participate in the refurbishment, servicing, assembly, modification and repairs of both manual and powered wheelchairs. You will also support the clinical team with client assessments, equipment modifications and handover of wheelchair equipment.

The Wheelchair Service provides a vital service to residents, enabling them to maintain their independence in the community.

The role:
  • You will be responsible for checking and management of new and reconditioned stock
  • You will be responsible for servicing and reconditioning of both manual and powered wheelchairs
  • You will provide technical support to clinical and non-clinical colleagues in the service.
  • Adjust and assemble equipment.
  • Support Clinicians with ordering parts, repairs and quality management. Show high level of competence using internal IT system to manage stock movement
About you:
  • You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent organisational and communication skills, able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • You will have a track record of using your practical skills to solve technical problems.
  • You should be proficient in the use of hand tools, including hand power tools, and be competent to operate appropriate workshop equipment.
  • You will be confident in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping.
  • You must hold a full current UK driving licence for a manual transmission vehicle for a minimum of 1 year and be willing to drive vehicles (vans) as necessary.
  • Because of your role, you will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Experience of wheelchairs is desirable but not essential
