Job summary

Ummah Welfare Trust in Birmingham is seeking a Public Relations Representative to join the West Midlands team. The role focuses on building strong ties with local Muslim community institutions, masjids and volunteers to raise awareness of campaigns and events.

The role includes organising Ramadan collections, distributing leaflets, planning PR and fundraising activities, and coordinating with the Regional PR Manager. DBS check required; 40 hours/week at the Birmingham office.

Qualifications

• Educated to A' Level or NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent.
• Classically trained in Islamic Studies or demonstrable equivalent.
• Experience of public speaking is essential.
• Ability to lead and motivate volunteers and work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with Muslim community institutions and masjids.
• Organise and participate in masjid collections for Ramadan and throughout the year.
• Distribute appeal leaflets and posters at masjids, venues, businesses and events.
• Initiate and plan PR and fundraising events with the regional fundraising team.
• Set up and supervise UWT stalls at events and exhibitions.
• Assist the PR team with fundraising administrative duties.
• Recruit, develop and support local volunteers.
• Coordinate fundraising events with the fundraising team and volunteers.
• Represent the charity at relevant events, presentations and meetings including public speaking.
• Provide regular updates to the Regional PR Manager.
