Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd is seeking a Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to support a Reception class in a Welsh-medium primary school in the SA2 area of Swansea. This full-time, long-term role starts on 1st September and focuses on engaging Welsh-medium lessons and purposeful interventions.

The successful candidate will be fluent in Welsh, have prior TA or LSA experience in early years or primary settings, and demonstrate a caring, proactive approach with strong teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Fluent Welsh language skills (essential).
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or within an Early Years or Primary School setting.
  • A caring, enthusiastic and proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to support children's learning through creative and engaging activities.
  • A genuine passion for Welsh-medium education.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Reception class teacher with engaging Welsh-medium lessons.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
  • Encourage language, literacy, numeracy and communication development.
  • Support children's social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Assist with play-based learning activities both indoors and outdoors.
  • Prepare classroom resources and maintain a stimulating learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Help ensure every child feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
