Job summary

Intellectual Property Office is seeking a proactive Welsh Language Scheme Officer to lead Welsh language activity across the organisation. You will champion Welsh language use, advise colleagues, and work with senior leaders to embed the language in culture and services.

The role involves developing a clear action plan, monitoring impact, and coordinating learning opportunities, including the Welsh Language Interest Group, with hybrid working and Newport office base.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication in Welsh and English.
• Strong influencing skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in maintaining performance and focus under pressure with multiple priorities.
• Excellent organisational skills, coordinating workstreams and monitoring delivery.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Welsh language ambassador across the organisation.
• Promote the Welsh Language Scheme and ensure stakeholder responsibilities are understood.
• Implement an action plan to monitor delivery and effectiveness of the Scheme.
• Coordinate Welsh language learning opportunities and engagement initiatives.
• Organise and support the Welsh Language Interest Group.
• Engage with senior leaders and stakeholders to embed Welsh in day-to-day activity.
• Manage translation processes and translation contracts, ensuring quality.
