Job overview

To support the wellbeing and care experiences of residents, enabling them to maintain personal interests in accordance with best practice, agreed standards, legislation, and within the financial budget.

Main duties and responsibilities
  • To support the holistic care and support needs of our residents, including personal care, continence, nutrition, psychological, and social.
  • To work in a manner which promotes the privacy, dignity and preferences of our residents.
  • Support residents with mobility needs, demonstrating appropriate use of moving and handling equipment in accordance with personalised care plans and organisational policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and care documentation in accordance with specific requirements identified by the registered nursing team and the minimum requirements expected of our regulatory and commissioning bodies.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, resident group, and members of the wider community, ensuring that professional standards are achieved at all times.
  • Ensure that the Care Certificate is completed as a minimum level of training within induction and probationary period.
  • Ensure residents are at the heart of events and programmes and that such activities enhance their wellbeing.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of entertainment, events and outings.
  • Assist residents to express personal preferences and routines, supporting the facilitation of hobbies and interests.
  • Support residents to access internet and communications, such as letter writing, Skype and FaceTime.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of individuals.
  • Maintain skills at a current level, undertake such training and development as required from time‑to‑time, and progress knowledge.
  • Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the management.
  • Any other reasonable request given by the Matron or member of the management team.
Person requirements
  • Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • At least two satisfactory references, including one from a previous employer.
  • Flexibility within working practices, covering duties in accordance with the provision of care for our residents, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.
  • Effective time management / manage own workload.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.

  • Compassionate, enthusiastic, and motivated.
  • People person with good communication skills.
