Position Details

Position Title: Welfare Manager (Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead)

Hours: 37 hours per week – Term time only plus 3 weeks

Grade / Salary: Grade 7 Scale 23-28 £44,075 - £49,282 (FTE)

Contract Type: Permanent

Closing Date: Monday 8th December 2025 at 12 noon

Start Date: Monday 5th January 2026

Experience
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection within an educational or similar setting.
  • Proven ability to manage referrals and liaise with external agencies (local authority, police, social care).
  • Experience supporting staff and providing training on welfare and safeguarding matters.
  • Experience in managing attendance systems and improving school attendance.
Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and welfare issues, including online safety.
  • Ability to advise, train, and support staff on safeguarding and welfare.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • Ability to manage confidential records and child protection files securely and accurately.
  • Skilled in identifying trends in attendance and implementing strategies to improve it.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with staff, students, parents, and external agencies.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with children and encourage a culture of listening.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Proactive, approachable, and supportive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • Willingness to be available during school hours for staff support.
