The role

As a Welding Supervisor – Orbital Systems, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the forefront of delivering critical engineering solutions in a highly regulated environment. This is more than just a supervisory role - it’s a chance to lead a skilled team of Industrial Trades professionals and make a tangible impact on national defence and nuclear safety.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Leading and motivating a team of orbital welding professionals to deliver high-quality maintenance and repair work.
  • Collaborating with Nuclear Repair Enablement and Fleet Programme Teams to plan and schedule tasks efficiently.
  • Reviewing safety, quality, and technical documentation to ensure readiness before task execution.
  • Ensuring team members are qualified and prepared for deployment into production.
  • Promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement through risk assessments and policy adherence.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Welding Supervisor – Orbital Systems
  • Experience in a similar role within a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of orbital welding machines, ideally Polysoude equipment.
  • Solid understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Qualifications for the Welding Supervisor – Orbital Systems
  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • ILM Level 3 certification is desirable but not essential.
