Qualifications

  • CSCS Gold or higher card required.
  • Welding Inspection Certification: Level 2 or 3 (CSWIP 3.1/3.2) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3/4 in Welding, Fabrication, or Engineering.
  • ASME IX or BS EN ISO 9606 Welder Qualification preferred.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS Certification.
  • First Aid Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all welding operations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Monitor welders for adherence to technical specs, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Inspect welding work to verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex welding tasks.
  • Ensure welding equipment is maintained, calibrated, and safe to use.
  • Prepare and maintain records including welding logs, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Enforce site safety protocols, PPE usage, and risk assessment compliance.
  • Coordinate with site managers, QC teams, and stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and training sessions for welders to improve skills and safety awareness.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to oversee welding operations on a large-scale infrastructure project involving viaducts and steel structures in Newry, Ireland. The successful candidate will ensure all welding activities are performed to the highest standards of quality and safety, in compliance with project specifications and UK regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all welding operations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Monitor the performance of welders to ensure adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct inspections of welding work to verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex welding tasks.
  • Ensure all welding equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in safe working condition.
  • Prepare and maintain records, including welding logs, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Enforce compliance with site-specific safety protocols, including the use of PPE and adherence to risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with site managers, quality control teams, and other stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and training sessions for welders to improve skills and awareness of safety practices.
Essential Qualifications and Certifications
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card Gold or higher.
  • Welding Inspection Certification: Level 2 or 3, e.g., CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (Welding Inspector/Senior Welding Inspector) or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3/4 in Welding, Fabrication, or Engineering or a related discipline.
  • ASME IX or BS EN ISO 9606 Welder Qualification (preferred).
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) Certification.
  • First Aid Certification (preferred but not essential).
