Job description

Bradford, England, Yorkshire & The Humber

Welding Inspector

Permanent

Number of positions: x2 Welding Inspector
Hours: Monday to Wednesday 7am - 5pm, Thursdays 7am - 4.30pm
Pay: £41,749.50 (£21.41ph, 37.5 hours per week) Overtime at T+1/2 available!
Status: Permanent (after successful completion of 18 weeks 'like probationary' temporary period).

Key Responsibilities as Welding Inspector:
  1. Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with industry and project standards.
  2. Prepare and control welding and manufacturing documentation, specifications, and quality records.
  3. Oversee welder testing, qualifications, and implementation of inspection and test plans.
  4. Monitor interpass temperatures, heat input checks, and dimensional accuracy.
  5. Identify and record non-conformities, managing rectification and retesting where required.
  6. Coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) internally and externally.
  7. Audit welding processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Champion Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
Qualifications & Skills Required as Welding Inspector:
  1. CSWIP 3.1 OR 3.2 / PCN Level 2 Welding Inspector.
  2. PCN Level 2 Visual Testing.
  3. Understanding of welding techniques, materials, and industry standards.
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  5. Proficiency with inspection tools and equipment.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Commitment to safety and quality excellence.
  8. IT proficiency (Microsoft Word & Excel).
  9. Additional PCN & Inspection qualifications may be considered.
Desirable (Not Essential):
  1. NDT certifications (MPI/UT - Magnetic Particle Inspection or Ultrasonic Testing).
  2. Experience with Hot Dye Galvanising, High Coat NACE Level 2, or ICORR.
  3. Background in Welding Engineering, Supervision or Leadership roles.
