Job summary

Recruit Engineering is seeking a Welding Engineer to strengthen its welding coordination team in the Northwest UK. You will support production and engineering in day-to-day welding activities, develop WPS documents, and lead internal welder audits. The role involves ensuring compliance with EN standards and coordinating qualification testing for welders.

Ideal candidates hold IWT/EWT, CSWIP 3.1, and TWI registration with strong MIG/MAG and TIG knowledge and the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

  • IWT/EWT qualification and CSWIP 3.1 are required.
  • Experience coordinating welding activities and audits.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with ISO 3834 and related standards.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfil the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) function and ensure standards compliance.
  • Support day-to-day welding activities across production and engineering.
  • Develop Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for new and existing products.
  • Plan and coordinate internal welder audits and accreditation activities.
  • Conduct pre-audit analysis for EN 1090, ISO 3834, and DIN 2303 compliance.
  • Coordinate welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 and 14732.
  • Identify root causes of weld issues and drive corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Review welding suppliers and assess performance.
  • Create SOPs and work instructions to ensure accurate information flow.
  • Support production engineering and design teams on welding matters.
  • Assist with welding plant selection and best-in-class technology implementation.

A well‑established engineering business with over 100 years of technical heritage is looking for a Welding Engineer to strengthen its welding coordination team. Specialising in complex, high‑integrity products for defence and industrial programmes, the business is expanding and investing in its welding quality function.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Fulfilling the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) function, ensuring compliance with welding standards and procedures
  • Supporting day‑to‑day welding activities across production and engineering teams
